Lectionary

We have added a sidebar noting the lectionary passages for the week for your perusal. They are a collection of passages (Old Testament, Psalm, New Testament and Epistle) that follow the church calendar. If you read closely they not only illumine the time of year, they also usually have a central theme that runs through them.

Many people use the lectionary passages as devotional passages for the week. Many churches use them as the sermon texts each week. At First Church in general, we utilize the lectionary in a variety of ways within the services and at other times. If you haven't looked at them on a regular basis, let us encourage you to do so and use them for your devotional time for a while.
